EDC is looking for candidates : youth workforce development

Education Development Center (EDC) is a leader in international programs and research. Established in 1958, EDC designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic opportunity. EDC is looking for candidates for long term positions for an upcoming proposal focused specifically on youth workforce development. 

Sr. Economic Growth & Workforce Specialist will have responsibility for the design, development and implementation of market-driven youth workforce activities and services that are grounded in current and future labor market needs and engage private sector as major partners/collaborators through program implementation and evaluation.

 

Demand with improve the quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) provided by government, NGO and private sector training providers.  The Specialist will work closely with local training institutions and private sector to integrate businesses into the TVET approaches and service provision and to strengthen their capacity for developing industry-driven TVET training in growth sectors, engage private sector and to manage and monitor the programs and services.

The Sr. Specialist will:

1. Oversee economic analyses to identify growth sectors and job or self-employment opportunities for youth.  
2. Liaise with employers and business partners to identify current and future labor needs
3. Lead the establishment of innovative strategies for private sector engagement in program design, placement and monitoring
4. Oversee establishment of systems for placement and tracking of youth in internships and jobs placement.
5. Transfer skills in private sector partnerships to government and NGO workforce development providers.
6. Oversee innovative strategies for supporting youth entrepreneurs, including engaging facilitating partnerships with incubators, business mentors and developing alternative financing strategies.

Qualifications:

• At least 7 years of experience in implementing economic growth or youth workforce development programs in Morocco.
• Strong management and organizational skills
• An undergraduate degree in education, business administration, public administration or other relevant discipline;
• Knowledge of best practices in workforce development and youth programming;
• Experience working with private sector in Morocco ;
• Experience working on international donor-funded programs, specifically USAID, preferred.
• Fluency in English and French required; Arabic highly desirable.
